Person struck, seriously injured by vehicle on I‑96

DETROIT, MI – A person who was standing outside their disabled vehicle on Interstate 96 in Metro Detroit was struck and injured by another vehicle Thursday morning.

The crash happened about 6:00 a.m. along westbound I-96 near the M-39 highway, near where the local and express lanes merge.

The incident occurred when a motorist stopped between the local and express lanes because of a flat tire on their vehicle. Someone was outside the disabled vehicle, and that person was struck and seriously injured by an oncoming vehicle, according to the Michigan State Police. The person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown…
