Organizers of an annual motorcycle ride want to make sure that fallen Melvindale police Cpl. Mohamed Said is never forgotten.
The ride on Saturday, July 18, will pass several sites important in the life of the 26-year-old officer, who was fatally shot on July 21, 2024.
The ride will pass Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit, where the officer is buried, and the car wash at Oakwood Boulevard and Dix Road, where he first encountered Michael Lopez, who was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison earlier this year for killing the officer.
The ride will end at the Melvindale Civic Arena, where a youth soccer team that bears Said’s name will play in a game later that afternoon…
