MADISON HEIGHTS — While the park is still closed and piled high with mounds of dirt, work is nearly complete at Red Oaks Park, formerly known as Ambassador Park.
The 7-acre property is located on 13 Mile Road, west of the Red Oaks Nature Center between Interstate 75 and Dequindre Road in Madison Heights. The city still owns the park but is leasing it to Oakland County, making it part of the Red Oaks Parks system that includes venues such as the Red Oaks Golf Course, Red Oaks Dog Park and Suarez Friendship Woods, home to the nature center. Oakland County has been managing the space since 2023.
Simon Rivers, the county’s chief of strategic partnerships and initiatives, said that while the parking lot is currently being resurfaced and more “play pockets” are being added, the park is now expected to reopen this fall…
