The only thing that might be more exciting than a new restaurant opening is an old favorite coming back on the scene.
Along with our list new restaurants to look forward to opening this fall and winter, there’s also a fair amount of re-openings. Here are the details.
Cass Cafe in Midtown
This art-centric and community-focused spot is coming back after closing in 2022. A nonprofit group, the Chalfonte Foundation, has taken over the restaurant and will slowly ramp up with special events before reopening for steady service in November. The first event is planned to coincide with this weekend’s Dally in the Alley on Sept. 12. Once fully open, patrons can expect food, drinks and a curated collection of visual art.

Moro’s Dining in Allen Park
Chef and owner Thomas Moro opened this Downriver Italian destination in 1980, and it closed in 2025, presumably with Moro’s retirement. Edward Smyth Jr. of Lincoln Park has confirmed to The Detroit News that he’s in the final stages of buying Moro’s and plans to reopen the restaurant in about two months…
