Suspect in 2024 Southfield carjacking charged in Michigan and Ohio

SOUTHFIELD — The suspect in a 2024 carjacking in Southfield, who is currently serving time for unrelated charges in Ohio, is expected to be arraigned on seven new charges from the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect is currently serving time at the Lebanon Correctional Institution in Ohio, and he is expected to be extradited to Michigan to be arraigned on charges authorized by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect’s name and photo have not been released, as he has yet to be arraigned in Michigan.

At approximately 6:34 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2024, Southfield police dispatch received a 911 call detailing a carjacking. Reportedly, a 19-year-old woman had arrived at the Chick-fil-A located at 28588 Telegraph Road for her work shift when she was approached by the suspect, a 30-year-old man from Louisville, Kentucky. Allegedly, he pointed a handgun at her chest and demanded her cellphone and the keys to her black 2013 Ford Focus. He reportedly fled in the car before police arrived…
