EASTPOINTE — A vacant former Rite Aid on Gratiot Avenue could soon see new life as a beauty supply store after the Eastpointe Zoning Board of Appeals granted a variance Sept. 17 allowing the nonconforming building to be occupied.
The ZBA voted to grant a variance for the building at 22600 Gratiot Ave., where 313 Beauty Supply hopes to open its third Michigan location.
The decision came after a discussion over a city ordinance governing nonconforming buildings and uses. The former pharmacy has been vacant since Rite Aid closed in 2024, and its business license was terminated Sept. 30 of that year.
