Police searching for armed suspect in ski mask who pistol-whipped Troy man during suspected robbery attempt

TROY (WWJ) – An armed suspect who allegedly pulled a gun on a Troy resident and struck him in the head during an attempted robbery early Thursday morning is on the run after the victim fought back, police say.

The Troy Police Department said the victim, a 46-year-old man, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident which occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the area of Wilmet Drive.

According to a social media post by the department, officers were dispatched to the scene on reports of an assault and possible robbery attempt. When they arrived, they located a male victim with a head injury.

Police said the man had come home during the night where he was confronted by a Black male wearing a ski mask in the driveway. The suspect produced a handgun and struck the victim.
