Lions veteran makes fool of himself in loss to 49ers

The Detroit Lions are fresh off of one of the most gut-wrenching losses in NFL playoff history. They just blew a 24-7 halftime lead due to major mistakes and tough luck.

In the first half, with things going swimmingly, Lions defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson taunted San Francisco 49ers fans. He waved goodbye to them with his team in complete control.

Then, the wheels fell off for the Lions. Their offense sputtered with multiple major mistakes, and their defense could not get a stop. The 49ers mounted the comeback and got the victory.

For Gardner-Johnson, it is a double whammy.

Firstly, it is embarrassing to show up fans only to later lose the game. Additionally, he had plenty of interactions with 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel prior to tonight, and Samuel got the last laugh with his team’s win.

He has built his identity through his energy and antics. Tonight, those blew up in his face on the big stage with his team on their way to the Super Bowl. Now, Gardner-Johnson will be a free agent. It’ll be intriguing to see if Detroit tries to bring him back.
