(WWJ) — A rollover crash on I-696 is causing rush hour backups in Metro Detroit Tuesday evening.
The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. on eastbound I-696 just after the entrance ramp from Woodward Avenue, leaving the right two lanes blocked, according to MDOT.
Traffic was backed up roughly three miles to before Greenfield Road, as of 5:15 p.m.
A photo from the scene shows a silver SUV lying on its roof with heavy damage to the front end.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, whether anyone was injured or if any other vehicles were involved.
Authorities have not said how long the right two lanes are expected to remain closed.
