Rescuers honored for saving worker who fell 140 feet off Ambassador Bridge into Detroit River

DETROIT – Good Samaritans involved in rescuing a man who fell 140 feet from the Ambassador Bridge into the Detroit River have been honored for their efforts, officials said. On Friday, five people were presented with the Captain David P. Dobbins Award for excellence in search and rescue, according to a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard. The contract worker was saved due to the efforts of witnesses on shore who alerted the crew of the J.W. Westcott II mailboat, which reached him in minutes.
