Suspect arrested in deadly shooting of 17-year-old on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT (WWJ) A suspect is in custody in connection to the murder of a 17-year-old boy in the early morning hours Friday (February 16), according to an alert from Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety.

Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety Detectives & Eastern Wayne County Special Response Team found the suspect in a vacant home in Detroit Sunday morning (February 18), then arrested him or her; they said.

Police did not reveal the location of the home.

Two days earlier, Detroit Police found the teen dead with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in the area of Mack and McKinley, near the Grosse Pointe Park border.

They were made aware of the shooting via a ShotSpotter alert that detected gunfire in the area.

No further details have been released about the suspect, including a possible motive.

The victim’s name has also not been released.
