Stevie Wonder to play Detroit, Grand Rapids in October as part of swing-state tour

Stevie Wonder will play Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena on Oct. 22 as heads out on a 10-city swing state tour ahead of November’s election.

The iconic Motown star will also play Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Oct. 30 as part of the run, a series of shows he has dubbed “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart.”

Tickets will go on sale at noon Friday through Ticketmaster . In a Thursday media release, Wonder said he was also be donating a number of tickets to people in each tour market.

Wonder’s tour will kick off Oct. 8 in Pittsburgh before making stops in states including North Carolina, Georgia and Wisconsin and wrapping up with the Grand Rapids show.

While the October run is not explicitly billed as a show of support for presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Wonder has long championed Democratic causes, performing with candidates and at other events, such as last month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. In October 2020, he played at Detroit’s Belle Isle as part of a Joe Biden rally.
