Police searching for suspects in triple shooting after a fight on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT (WWJ) — Three teenagers are expected to recover after being shot on Detroit’s west side, while the suspect or suspects remain at large.

According to Detroit Police, the shooting happened Thursday night, after a fight broke out involving some young people in the area of Puritan Avenue and Wisconsin.

Police Chief James White said officers with the DPD’s 12th Precinct responded to the scene in less than five minutes,

“It looks like at around 8:12 p.m. there was a fight in this area involving a number of teens,” White told reporters. “As they were leaving the location… walking up Puritan near Wisconsin, as silver sedan approached, fired shots at the three teens.”

“It looks like there was a fight earlier that they may have been involved in,” White said, “and this may be some type of retaliation and continuation of that fight.”

White said the victims — ages 15, 16 and 17 — were taken to a local hospital where they’re being treated for non life-threating injuries.

Police do not have anyone in custody and on Friday were actively searching for the silver sedan.
