Detroit police searching for suspect who approached woman delivering package, stole the box and drove away

DETROIT (WWJ) — Police are asking for help identifying a suspect who stole a package from a delivery person on Detroit’s west side.

The incident happened in the area of 7 Mile and Greenfield Roads around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, according to Detroit police.

The 42-year-old victim was delivering a package to a home in the area when the suspect approached her, took the package from her and fled the scene in a silver sedan.

Officials did not say whether the woman worked as a delivery driver for the USPS or another service such as Amazon, FedEx or UPS. Authorities did not specify what was in the stolen package.

DPD officials on Monday released security camera photos of the suspect on the porch, as well as the car he fled in.

Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes him to call the Detroit Police Department’s 8th Precinct at 313-596-5840.
