Warren woman fatally shoots ex-boyfriend who broke in, chased her; Police say there was ‘extensive’ domestic violence history

WARREN (WWJ) — A man has died after being shot while trying to break into a woman’s home in what Warren police officials say was a domestic violence incident.

It all unfolded around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, when police were called to a woman’s home on Bolam Street, near 10 Mile and Groesbeck, regarding a shooting.

Police officials say a 29-year-old man had been shot in the abdomen and fled the scene. He was found on a nearby street and rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators learned the man had been shot by the 33-year-old woman who lived at the home. She was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Authorities say the woman admitted to shooting him and told investigators the two had “dated on and off” for a while.

Prior to the shooting, police learned the man had forced his way into her home and chased her, before she fired one shot at him.

Investigators have confirmed “an extensive domestic violence history at the residence” between the two, but no specifics were provided.
