Troy man found slumped over the wheel in Buscemi’s parking lot blew .309% BAC, had open bottle of bourbon in SUV

TROY (WWJ) — A man has been charged after police found him drunk and slumped over the wheel of his car in the parking lot of a Troy pizza place last Friday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Nov. 8 at Buscemi’s, on Rochester Road, near Big Beaver. That’s when police were called to do a welfare check on a man who was seen slumped over in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Rav4.

When officers showed up, the engine was running and the 41-year-old Troy man was asleep.

When they woke him up, they immediately noticed he and the SUV smelled like alcohol. He failed multiple field sobriety tests and blew a .24% BAC on a preliminary breath test, which is three times the legal limit.

He was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up.

When officers searched his car they found a half-full bottle of bourbon in the passenger seat.

While the man was in custody at the facility he agreed to a chemical breath test, which came back with results of .305% and .309%.

He was cited for operating with a blood alcohol content of .17% or more and open intoxicants in a vehicle. His name has not been released.
