Gun violence prompts families relocation

Gun violence in Detroit has left families no choice but to relocate. But, as they leave home to avoid being the targets of a stray bullet, they often find another problem looming: a shortage of affordable and quality housing.

In this story, we follow the journey of Lynette Brock , 37, the mother of six children, who left the east side of Detroit after someone shot into her home twice this summer  — the second time with a bullet grazing her son’s head. Brock and her family are one of dozens of Detroiters who have been relocated in recent years by nonprofits and community groups after experiencing gun violence.
