Allen Park Police investigate bags containing apparent rat poison, antisemitic messages left on porches

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) Allen Park Police are investigating antisemitic messages, along with a mysterious substance, left outside several homes in the city.

Allen Park Police responded on Sunday morning, January 5th, to reports of an unknown suspect leaving bags that contained apparent rat poison and antisemitic remarks on the porches of many homes.

Further investigation revealed the substance in the bag was not poison.

“There is no immediate threat to animals or the general public,” Allen Park Police said in a social media statement.

Multiple antisemitic incidents have occurred in Metro Detroit and southeastern Michigan in recent months.

In October, just two days ahead of the one-year-anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel, Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield Police investigated bags of antisemitic fliers left on the front lawn of some 200 homes across both Oakland County communities. In November, demonstrators waved Nazi flags outside of a community theater production of The Diary of Anne Frank at an American Legion Post in Howell.
