Michigan State Police (MSP) shared dash cam and body cam video from a multi-vehicle collision that occurred in Royal Oak last month.
The video was captured at 12:05 a.m. on December 12 on southbound I-75 near 11 Mile Road as troopers were responding to a previous crash.
Troopers from MSP’s Second District detail the crash captured in the video:
The driver of a tractor-trailer attempted to the pass slowing/exiting traffic in the left lane. The driver of the semi saw the patrols blocking the lanes, applied both the tractor and trailers brakes, lost control of the vehicle steering towards the left shoulder. The semi struck the first patrol car sending it over 100 yards into the rear of the occupied patrol car. The semi continued on the left shoulder towards the two troopers who were out investigating the crash and a tow truck operator. They were able to avoid the semi by jumping the median wall. The semi continued into the crash scene striking an unoccupied vehicle from the previous crash.
