Meghan Markle’s reps deny use of HRH title after gift card gaffe

Representatives for the Duchess of Sussex have denied that she continues to use her HRH title, following a recent podcast appearance where a gift from Meghan, bearing the title, was visible on screen.

During an interview with entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, a gift basket sent by Meghan was displayed, featuring a card that read, “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex”. Kern Lima, co-founder of IT Cosmetics, noted the gift, which included homemade strawberry sauce and ice cream, arrived approximately a year ago.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed they no longer use their HRH titles. Although not legally prohibited, an agreement with the late Queen prevents the couple from using the word “Royal” in their branding following their departure from official duties in 2020.

Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment.

Meghan also revealed in the podcast that she and Harry are enjoying a renewed “honeymoon” phase in their relationship, now that they have more breathing room away from royal life. She explained that the intense media scrutiny they faced early in their relationship, starting just six months after they began dating, made it difficult to fully enjoy each other’s company. Now, seven years later, she feels they’re finally experiencing a true honeymoon period.

The Duchess praised her husband for prioritizing their family’s safety and well-being amidst ongoing legal battles with the media and the UK Home Office. She described Harry as having a beautiful heart and being dedicated to protecting and uplifting their family, while still making time for romance. She also playfully added, “He’s also a fox…my husband’s very, very handsome.”

This comes on the heels of several ventures for Meghan, including a Netflix show, a new podcast, and her lifestyle brand, As Ever. While the initial As Ever products sold out, her Netflix series received mixed reviews.

Her new podcast, Confessions Of A Female Founder, launched in April. In the latest episode, she discussed the challenges of working from home while raising children, and her experiences caring for Archie and Lilibet during their illnesses.
