Arraignment is scheduled for June 4 for the case against an incarcerated convicted killer who recently was charged in a second slaying that happened two and a-half years ago in Madison Heights.
Detroiter Nino Denzel-Wesley Red, 32, is to be arraigned by video on June 4 by 43rd District Judge Keith Hunt. Red, charged with first-degree murder and firearms-related crimes, is accused of fatally shooting David Willis II as he was leaving 168 Crab and Karaoke seafood restaurant in Madison Heights on Dec. 19, 2022. Willis, of Detroit, was 37 years old.
Red is serving a 16- to 32-year prison sentence for a 2023 second-degree murder and firearms-related crimes in Wayne County. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced last January.
According to police, Willis was killed when an SUV pulled up next to him in the restaurant parking lot and someone in the vehicle — who investigators believe is Red — exchanged words with him and then opened fire from inside the vehicle.
