Man in His 50s Found Dead in Detroit River, Police Investigate Mysterious Circumstances

A man’s body was pulled from the Detroit River on Wednesday evening, sparking a police investigation into the circumstances of his death. Detroit fire officials arrived at the scene near W. Fort Street and the Ambassador Bridge after receiving reports around 7:45 p.m., as stated by WXYZ. The deceased was brought to shore quickly thereafter, around 7:55 p.m., by the Detroit fire boat crew.

The Detroit Police Department reported that the body appears to be that of a man in his 50s, though his identity has not been established. Found near 24th Street and Jefferson Avenue, authorities noted that the fire boat Sivad Johnson was deployed for the recovery. Waiting for an autopsy, police have yet to determine how long the man had been in the river, according to a statement obtained by CBS News Detroit.

Several emergency calls were made by witnesses who noticed the body in the water, leading to the fire department’s response. The incident took place near Riverside Park in the 3000 block of W.
