Former Detroit Officer Charged With Threatening Family, Vandalism in Macomb County

A former Detroit police officer has been arraigned on multiple misdemeanor charges for allegedly threatening his ex-wife and stepchildren, as well as vandalizing property. Rick Allen Fields, 54, is accused of sending threatening messages via email, voicemail, and text, in addition to spray painting his stepdaughter’s vehicles, CBS News Detroit reports.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Fields with four counts of malicious use of a telecommunication service and two counts of malicious destruction of personal property. According to The Detroit News, Fields was released on his recognizance but is required to quickly wear a GPS monitor and is barred from having any contact with the victims. He must also abstain from possessing firearms.

Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasized accountability, stating, per CBS News Detroit, “No one is above the law, including those who once swore to uphold it,” as cited by multiple sources. The former officer’s bond was set at $25,000, and the arraignment took place in the 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores. Currently, there is no direct comment from the Detroit Police Department regarding Fields’ previous service with them, nor an immediate response from his attorney, Jennifer J.
