Rev. Michael C. Jones says he’s been doing this for decades. He’s a Navy vet who was once homeless. What inspired him to do this annually was a chance encounter he had 36 years ago at Belle Isle. He says he saw a homeless vet who wanted some food at Belle Isle, but no one would give him any. So, Pastor Mike did. And since then, he’s been a vet serving other vets and homeless people. He teamed up with the Eastern Stars organization and, separately, the All Star Giveback, a charity started by Tarence Wheeler and former Piston Derrick Coleman.
