Todd Perkins Pledges to Rebuild Detroit from the Neighborhoods Out

July 22, 2025 ~ Detroit mayoral candidate Todd Perkins is making a bold promise to voters: to shift the city’s focus from downtown development to neighborhood revitalization. With early voting underway, the attorney and former city counsel is campaigning on a platform of equity, safety, and economic inclusion—calling for “all hands on deck” to reimagine Detroit’s future.

Perkins, a lifelong Detroiter and legal veteran, is centering his campaign on the belief that “great cities are built upon great neighborhoods.” Earlier today on 760 WJR’s “’JR Morning,” Perkins outlined his vision for safer streets, stronger schools, and economic opportunity that reaches beyond the city’s core. “A great neighborhood is one that’s first and foremost safe,” he said. “But it also has to have education, recreation, and economic vitality—not just downtown, but in every corner of Detroit.
