Focus: Hope to deliver monthly senior food boxes across the Thumb through December

A Detroit-based nonprofit is continuing its effort to fight senior hunger in the Thumb. Focus: Hope’s Food for Seniors program, now in its second year locally, will distribute monthly food boxes in all five counties, with upcoming dates set for September through December.

“The population of seniors who are food insecure is growing. That’s why we brought the program there — to provide probably $60 or more worth of food per month,” said Frank Kubik, director of Focus: Hope’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program. “That frees up money you would use to buy that food to maybe use for something such as prescriptions or to pay a medical or utility bill.”
