Michigan spawned – and continues to spawn – many people who have gone on to fame in one way or another.
One of the many who became successful actors is George Peppard, who co-starred in a good number of films in the 1960s before he found his lasting fame as a television series actor; first in Banacek from 1972-1974 and then as Hannibal Smith in The A-Team from 1983-1987.
George Peppard was born on October 1, 1928 in Detroit and grew up in Dearborn, graduating from Dearborn High in 1946. He became interested in acting while studying civil engineering at Purdue University. For a while, he was a deejay at WLOA in Braddock, Pennsylvania.
