Kresge Foundation Returns to Detroit with $180 Million Investment and New Headquarters on Marygrove Campus by 2028

The Kresge Foundation will move its headquarters from Troy to the Marygrove Conservancy Campus in Detroit by 2028 and invest $180 million over five years in the Livernois-McNichols corridor. The funding will focus on housing stability, home ownership, and commercial redevelopment. WXYZ reports that Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said “the neighborhood is going to be better off for years to come.” The Fitzgerald, Bagley, University District, and Martin Park neighborhoods are included in the plan.

In partnership with the Live6 Alliance, the Kresge Foundation is creating a fund to support vacant land care, beautification projects, home maintenance, property tax relief, and renter assistance. Kresge CEO Rip Rapson said, “Those investments will continue across the city,” noting the foundation’s focus on the Livernois-McNichols area, where investments now total nearly $400 million, according to WXYZ…
