Pilot’s haunting final words in tragic crash that killed 29

A scheduled domestic flight from Cincinnati to Detroit in January 1997 lost control and crashed near Monroe, Michigan, killing all 29 people on board.

Flight 3272, a Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia operated by Comair Airlines, Inc., encountered issues with procedures for icy conditions as it neared the Detroit Metro Airport. The 26 passengers, two flight crew members and one flight attendant perished as the plane’s nose struck the ground 18 miles short of the airport in Monroe County’s Raisinville Township.

Audio recording of the pilot’s radio dispatch with air traffic control revealed the final words he spoke, moments before the crash. “Holy s—, we’re gonna f—in’ die,” he could be heard saying as alarms and warnings blared behind him…
