Detroit closes historic Hotel Yorba, building deemed unsafe

DETROIT – The City of Detroit has closed the historic Hotel Yorba after deeming the building unsafe.

An order to vacate dated Monday, Sept. 22, from the City of Detroit’s Buildings, Safety, Engineering and Environmental Department was found stapled to a sheet of plywood covering the hotel’s front door.

The order states the building is unsafe and requires all occupants to leave that morning. Additionally, all first-floor windows are currently boarded up…
