Criminal charges are filed against a Detroiter accused of a carjacking where he allegedly ripped the vehicle’s keys from an 83-year-old woman’s hands outside a store in Oakland County on Sunday, officials said.
On Monday, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office announced charges of carjacking and robbery against Angelo George Mitchell, 29. Besides taking the woman’s car, he’s also accused of stealing her purse.
According to Michigan State Police, the reported carjacking occurred outside the Dollar Tree store at 8918 W. Eight Mile Rd. in Royal Oak Township, shortly before 1 p.m. on Oct. 5. The victim had described the suspect as a black man with long dreadlocks, wearing a green hoodie.
