Michigan Lawmaker Urges State to Re-Release Patient Complaint Data Amid Audit Concerns as Detroit Man Fatally Shot in Port Huron and Woman in Custody as Police Investigate String of Area Shootings

A Michigan lawmaker has called for the immediate restoration of patient complaint data that was removed from the state’s website, according to Local 4. The demand follows an inquiry into discrepancies between the data displayed on the state dashboard and findings from a recent audit by the Michigan Office of the Auditor General. This audit revealed that the protections in place for Michigan’s mental health patients were described as “insufficient.”

Sen. Michael Webber told the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) that removing the data was deeply concerning. He asked for an explanation and a timeline for when the missing data from fiscal years 2022 to 2024 would be restored online. After Local 4 raised questions, MDHHS said there was an error in the 2023 data and removed that section, which also led to the removal of the 2022 and 2023 reports. The 2024 data is still available.

Meanwhile, in Port Huron, a tragic event unfolded as a 30-year-old Detroit man succumbed to gunshot wounds following an incident at a gas station. Port Huron police received reports of the shooting at around 4:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of Military Street, FOX 2 Detroit reports.
