Empty Detroit hospital may have a familiar new owner

A vacant hospital in northeast Detroit that went to auction over the summer may have a familiar new owner.

City assessment records indicate that ownership of the vacant campus that was once Holy Cross Hospital, situated 4777 East Outer Drive and less than a mile south of Eight Mile, changed hands Aug. 11, or more than a month after a late June online auction that a mystery bidder apparently won for $1.25 million.

The assessment records identify the new owner as Crown Enterprises, which is the Moroun family’s commercial real estate firm. However, there have been no recent deed recordings for any sale…
