GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Detroit man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for trying to donate cryptocurrency to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham, also known as ISIS.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan says 26-year-old Jibreel Pratt was sentenced Thursday. Months ago, he pleaded guilty to two counts of concealing material support for a foreign terrorist organization.
Court records show Pratt initiated a conversation in February 2023 with a person he believed was a member of ISIS who could facilitate a way for him to travel overseas and join the terrorist organization.
