Detroit CVI Group Ceasefire Brings gifts to Family of 1-Year-Old Shot on Christmas Eve

A Detroit community violence intervention (CVI) group is stepping in with compassion after a heartbreaking shooting left a 1-year-old girl and her mother injured on Christmas Eve.

Members of Ceasefire Detroit visited the family’s home this week, bringing gifts, essential items, and words of comfort as the family continues to recover from the traumatic incident on the city’s east side.

Tamara Liberty Smith, director of Ceasefire, described the situation as deeply painful, emphasizing that no child should ever experience violence—especially during the holidays.
