Allan Webster is a talented man with dreams and ambition — and demons, plenty of demons.
The demons landed him on the streets of Detroit a couple of years ago. He eventually found his way to the Pope Francis Center Bridge Housing campus in the Core City neighborhood. He has lived there for the past nine months, getting help to overcome chronic homelessness.
Webster sits in the center’s art room on a Saturday afternoon in December. He is working on intricate model sculptures — it is that talent and his dream to one day paint houses that he holds on to in his quest to finally stay sober and have a home again…
