Prominent Detroit businessman hit with $10M judgment for money owed

Prominent Detroit businessman and real estate investor Herb Strather is facing a $10.4 million court order to repay money he borrowed from a business partner nearly two decades ago.

Strather, 74, was hit with the potentially financially devastating judgment in September. He has since been ordered to disclose under oath later this month details on all of his assets and properties to see whether he can pay.

Strather has been a well-known figure in Detroit real estate for decades and is said to own a “substantial” real estate empire. He also was an early partner in Detroit’s casinos and continues to run a real estate investor school for adults, known as Strather Academy…
