DETROIT (WWJ) — No injuries were reported, but smoke could be seen from miles away from a massive fire burning Monday morning on Detroit’s lower east side.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight on Jan. 19 at a large industrial building covering about a square block at Milwaukee and Orleans. That’s in the area of I-75 and East Grand Boulevard, near GM’s Factory Zero.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ’s Charlie Langton said he could see burned-out vehicles inside what he’s told is the Detroit Disposal and Recycling building, which details with industrial equipment recycling…
