Brandon Twp. — During the regular meeting on Feb. 2, the Brandon Township Board of Trustees voted unanimously to take over planning for the annual Fourth of July Foodtrucks and Fireworks event from the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority and Friends of AMOS.
“Brandon Township is best suited to handle the event and continue on with the event that the Friends of AMOS and the Ortonville DDA has built over the years,” said Township Supervisor Jayson Rumball.
In a letter to the township, Courtney McClerren, on behalf of Friends of AMOS and the Ortonville DDA, said that the event has grown in size, and with that growth have come larger operational, logistical, and liability demands.
