Two Teens Charged as Adults in Tree Lighting Ceremony Shooting at The Mall at Partridge Creek

Two 16-year-olds have been charged as adults in connection with a shooting at The Mall at Partridge Creek. The shooting occurred last November during a tree lighting ceremony near the MJR theater and left a 17-year-old from Mount Clemens seriously injured, according to ClickOnDetroit. He was shot four times and has undergone six surgeries, with additional procedures expected.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged King Payne of Eastpointe and Christian Griffin of Clinton Township with assault with intent to murder, according to The Detroit News. Payne also faces a charge of felony firearm. Bond was set at $5 million for Payne and $2 million for Griffin.

Both teens were arraigned in 41B District Court and are being held at the Juvenile Justice Center in Mount Clemens. Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said the decision to charge them as adults was based on the severity of the allegations, according to CBS Detroit…
