Hamtramck selected for Michigan Main Street program to boost downtown revitalization

HAMTRAMCK, MI – Hamtramck will receive five years of state support aimed at revitalizing its downtown and commercial corridors after being selected for the Michigan Main Street program, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced.

The city was chosen by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to participate at the Select Level of the program, which provides technical assistance and planning support focused on strengthening downtown districts through new businesses, events and community-driven economic development.

“Michigan’s main streets create jobs, grow small businesses, and make our communities vibrant places to live, work, and play,” Whitmer said in a statement. “With the support of the Main Street program and Team Michigan, we will continue to transform the downtowns and commercial districts throughout Michigan.”…
