For decades, Jerry’s Party Store has served Grosse Pointe residents; now a new chapter begins. A longtime customer and Grosse Pointe South graduate, Grace Paschke ’19 is stepping into ownership alongside her father, David Paschke, creating a huge transition as the previous owners, Jerry and Sue Stocking, step into retirement. With deep roots in the community and a background in marketing, Grace Paschke plans to keep the store’s longtime character alive while adding new products that give today’s customers what they want.
This change in ownership did not happen overnight. After working in marketing and realizing the job was not a long-term fit for her, Grace Paschke was ready for something different. When Jerry Stocking mentioned his plans to retire, David recognized the opportunity and brought the idea to her as something she could keep busy with. Together, they began planning a new and smooth transition that would keep the store’s reputation alive.
“I am a part-time owner with my dad,” Grace Paschke said. “And then eventually in two or three years, I will buy it out completely from him. I just needed someone’s help.”…
