Man accused of trying to stab Michigan cop in face with screwdriver enters plea

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A man accused of trying to stab a police officer in the face with a screwdriver at a Michigan Walmart has entered his plea.

A 32-year-old man from Eastpointe has pleaded no contest to charges linked to the October 2025 exchange at a Walmart store in Sterling Heights.

According to authorities, police responded to the store on reports of shoplifting. When they arrived, Joshua Mills reportedly ran off. An officer pursued and deployed a taser, striking Mills. While on his back as officers attempted to arrest him, Mills reportedly sat up and tried to stab an officer in the face with a screwdriver…
