Signature collector who helped upend GOP governor’s race in 2022 headed to prison

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — One of two men found guilty for operating a petition scheme that halved the GOP governor’s race in 2022 has been sentenced.

Shawn Wilmoth, of Warren, was sentenced Wednesday, March 18 to between 4 and 20 years in prison by Macomb County Circuit Judge James Maceroni.

Wilmoth, along with his co-defendant Willie Reed, of Pompano Beach, Florida, was convicted in February of conducting a criminal enterprise, along with multiple charges of false pretense, computer crime and election law forgery…
