Monroe County warns of scam messages claiming to be from city of Detroit

MONROE COUNTY, Michigan — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam involving fraudulent messages claiming to be from the city of Detroit or Wayne County.

These messages, which are sent via mail, email, texts and phone calls, claim there is a “notice of default” for an outstanding traffic violation. The caller/sender then demands payment.
