Abducted Michigan teen rescued after classmates track location: school official

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD/NEXSTAR) — A 16-year-old student who was kidnapped from a Detroit-area bus stop on Monday morning is safe thanks to the quick action of their fellow classmates, according to a school official.

“Several students witnessed the incident and were able to help track the student’s location through social media and cell phone information,” Abdulmalik Algahaim, the president of the Hamtramck Public School Board of Education, said in a social media post. “Police were contacted immediately. Officers located the vehicle, conducted a stop, and the suspect was taken into custody.”

The abduction happened around 7:09 a.m. near Edwin Street and Pulaski Park in Hamtramck, Chief of Police Hussein Farhat said during a news conference Monday. Farhat said responding officers managed to locate the child and the suspect in less than 30 minutes…
