‘This is real. This is loss’ — Dearborn group plans lawsuit over destroyed Lebanon homes

DEARBORN, MI – A Dearborn-based civil rights group announced plans Monday to file a federal class action lawsuit against the U.S. government, citing American citizens’ homes and property in Lebanon have been destroyed with support from U.S. foreign policy.

Leaders with the Arab American Civil Rights League (ACRL) made the announcement during a news conference at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center, where attorneys, elected officials and community members described what they said are widespread losses tied to ongoing violence in Lebanon.

The lawsuit had not yet been filed as of Monday afternoon. The ACRL said they are still gathering plaintiffs, documenting damages and determining whether to file in federal court in Detroit or Washington, D.C…
