The historic Ford Building at 615 Griswold Street in the heart of downtown Detroit was left struggling after Covid. The virus resulted in an extremely low occupancy rate — currently 14 percent.
Now, Crain’s Detroit Business reports that the building, once the tallest tower in Detroit, is going up for auction next month. The current owners will likely get far less than what they paid in 2017.
Then again, its not clear if anyone wants to take on the challenges of owning an office building these days, particularly if they can’t convert it into residential units…
