The weather was perfect and so was the upbeat mood of the thousands of people who enjoyed the 61st Cinco de Mayo Parade in Southwest Detroit on Sunday, May 3rd. Sponsored by the Mexican Patriotic Committee, the parade and fiesta, which was held on both Saturday and Sunday, went off flawlessly (at least to most viewers!) The festivities, in all their glory, were a testament to the resilience of a people who have seen troubled times over the past year, but who remain proud of their history and their rich culture…
