Thousands of Detroit homeowners could get major property tax breaks through HOPE program

DETROIT, MI – Detroit officials are urging homeowners struggling with property taxes to apply for a city assistance program that could reduce their bills and help prevent foreclosure.

The city has launched outreach for its Homeowners Property Exemption, or HOPE, program earlier this year in an effort to reach more eligible residents before the Nov. 6 application deadline.
